Lightning strikes are one of the most hazardous calamities that happen in nature. They can kill people through a direct strike, cardiac arrests, a fire caused due to the strike, etc. One of the reasons why lightning can be so threatening is that it's difficult to predict when and where it can strike or its behavior after the strike. An appropriate and satisfactory lightning protection system alone can help you keep your building's facilities and people safe while also avoiding unwanted after-costs.

Design engineers at ICS closely examine many parameters when planning for a lightning protection system layout. For instance, they follow a detailed risk-based study of every building structure, circumstance, and characteristic existing at the installation time.

Understanding a Lightning Protection System
An external lightning protection system aims to block, transfer, and disband a lightning strike securely to the earth. A building's construction, electronic equipment, and the individuals living, walking, and working about or inside it are all thrown to open risk in the absence of a robust Lightning Protection System.

Design engineers of ICS deploy all the sophisticated and secure network elements to build a trail with low resistivity until into the earth for any likely strikes. A protection system conceived in this manner shall secure the structure of your building from any strikes and lower the risk of a fire hazard. This low resistivity path for the charge to tailgate a heating capacity reduces vastly while flowing through a structure or a building's flammable materials.

Design Features

Strike Termination Devices
It is a conductive element of a lightning protection system that can ably receive a lightning strike and connect it to a path to the ground.

Conductors
A conductor carries lightning currents between strike termination devices and grounding electrodes.

Connectors
Any splice or joining of two conductors or the connection of a conductor to a metal object will require a connector or fitting. Connectors can be utilized anywhere on a lightning protection installation. Bimetallic connectors and fittings are used for splicing or bonding different metals. All of our mechanical type connections use stainless steel fasteners which resist corrosion. There are (4) types of mechanical fittings like Cable Connectors, Clamps, Bonding lugs, and Bonding Plates.

Grounding Electrodes
Grounding electrodes are the parts of a lightning protection system, such as a ground rod, ground plate, or ground conductor placed to enable lightning current to progress into the earth.

Common Bonding and Potential Equalization
Connected at a shared access point in or upon the structure, the lightning protection system can have just one big-sized conductor attached to the common bonding point. This common bonding point includes a ground bar, a water pipe section, or the metallic structure as per UL 96.
